At 25, Aliy has tapped a new creative vein. Just one year after his last studio release, he has come out with a new emotional collection, “ Temple Of Aliy”, and his second album, Temple Of Aliy, is out this month. All of it has been in collaboration with the tireless super-producer Textur M.

Hello… its been a long time! - Russell

Yes, it has, Thank you for having me again. -Aliy

Thank you for being here, so the world is falling into a new place of change, So during the creation of this project “how did it all start”?… Russell

Hum, i think when i noticed the darkness in the world was entering into my bubble, so i locked myself in a room with nothing but my thoughts, paper & pen. - Aliy

“ You locked your self inside an empty room, to write this album? -Russell

Yes & No ( laughter)… i had a bed, a few books, but no tv or cell phones existed while i was locked in the room. - Aliy

Wow, thats extreme, why how did that lead to to the name of the album?

The room is blue like the sky, with clouds that float completely around the room, made me feel like i was far away, somewhere safe…in a temple far off into the silent. When the lights go out, the glow in the dark stars all over the ceiling and walls make me feel like i’m outside on my roof dreaming of not holding onto my fear and pain i hold inside. -Aliy

When you say fear and pain, what do that mean exactly? - Russell

When i think of “Fear” i think of judgement, weak, disrespect and hate / Pain is mixed in a ball of strength, Growth, mending, evolution. -Aliy

Okay, Did you feel like this album kind of demanded to be made? Since you haven’t released a project since “White Butterflies (The Christmas Album). -Russel

I felt it was more of a Gift this time around, i’m bringing you into a personal chapter of what i feel, think and wonder when i’m alone. ( This almost got vaulted due to unstable emotions that almost shifted my wheel, off the path of ‘FREEDOM’. I was thinking on a different level of making this one, because of how much I’ve been distracted by changes in America this year. Just when you think you know what you’re writing & singing about, something else pops up and you fight it with your solid confidence or you give into the new joy ride. -Aliy

Do you feel like there was a looses to making Temple Of Aliy ? -Russell

Not Completely, i cut 178 tracks and half are demos, I’ve been really stressed about this album. its hard to know what to keep or give anymore. A few tracks i would play in the dark in hopes of the defining track that will connect me to someone else, who feels the same way i did in the moment. -Aliy

What’s the song you would play first of the album? -Russel

Its called “ A Comes Before B” (giggle) I am still not sure if i’m ready to give that piece of art, just yet! -Aliy

What’s the story behind that song?

You’ll have to waiting to my book, but i will say, the song is about me remembering i’m a king.

A book? Really! OK.

Yes, slowly i’m breaking down everything until it’s at, its most authentic place of something timeless and untouchable as the goal, whenever i am doing any project.
